The average maximum was 7.5°C, with the average minimum being 2.7°C.
The maximum dew point was 11.8°C at 14:32 on the 24th, with the lowest dew point being -3.7°C on the 14th at 20:39. The monthly average dew point was 3.5°C. 15.08 hours of sunshine was recorded in the month, easily the lowest ever recorded in January, and there were six frost days. The was the lowest maximum rain rate recorded in any month here.
Overnight on the 16th and 17th, a total of 25 millimetres of snow fell, the heaviest snowfall since 40 millimetres was recorded on January 30th 2015, and the first snowfall of 2016.

The mild start to 2016 continued into February with above average temperatures being recorded, without any unusually hot days. The average for the month was 4.5°C, compared to the mean of 3.9°C. Rainfall for the month was slightly above average.

March 2016 saw temperatures slightly below average and the wettest March so far recorded here. Winds were lighter than average for the time of year.
The average temperature in the month was 5.3°C, compared to the monthly mean of 5.7°C. The highest temperature recorded was 12.9°C at 15:11 on the 26th, with the lowest temperature being -2.7°C at 02:20 on the 8th. April 2016 was a cold month - only April of 2012 being colder. Winds and rainfall were slightly below average and the only snow that fell was towards the end of the month when cold Arctic air brought snow and hail showers, which were quick to disappear.
