12th January - In the early hours, the temperature dipped below 0°C, this was the first time an air frost has been recorded since November 26th 2013. The spell of 46 days without any sub-zero temperatures is easily the longest spell recorded in the Winter period. The previous best period of above zero Winter temperatures was one of 26 days, between December 15th 2012 and January 9th 2013.
15th January - The 4.4 millimetres of rain today took the monthly total to 38.2 millimetres. This makes January 2014 the wettest January recorded here, beating the previous wettest of 36.4 millimetres in 2012.
21st January - The temperature at 09:03 fell to -1.2°C. This is the second lowest temperature this winter, beaten only by the -2.3°C recorded on November 19th 2013.
25th January - At 14:26, a wind gust of 44.1 mph was recorded, the highest gust ever recorded in January, and the fourth strongest gust recorded at this location.
30th January - The maximum temperature of 3.9°C, recorded at 22:08, was the lowest daily maximum since March 28th 2013.
31st January - For the first time at this location, precipitation has been recorded on every day this month.
3rd February - The first completely dry day since 28th December 2013. The run of 36 days of precipitation is the longest recorded here, beating the previous best of 17 days set in 2012.
5th February - The barometer fell to 970.2 millibars at 15:41, the lowest pressure ever recorded here in February, beating the previous low of 978.5 millibars set in 2010.
7th February - Today's rainfall took the Winter total to 141.2 millimetres, beating the previous highest Winter total set in 2012/3.
8th February - At 17:29, the barometer fell to 965.5 millibars - the lowest pressure ever recorded here. This beat the previous low of 966.6 millibars, set on 24th December 2013.
12th February - The high gust speed of 47.2 mph from 248°(WSW) on 12 at 19:34 The high gust speed of 47.2 mph from 248 ° (WSW) recorded at 19:34 equalled the highest ever recorded.
15th February - A wind gust of 48.3 mph was recorded at 02:50, the highest ever recorded here. The low barometer of 964.9 millibars was the lowest pressure recorded here.
21st April - The high temperature of 18.4°C surpassed the yearly high of 17.2°C set on 09/03/2014 by 1.2°.
15th May - The high temperature of 20.1°C surpassed the yearly high of 18.4°C set on 21/04/2014 by 1.7°C. The high dew point of 13.6°C surpassed the yearly high of 12.9°C set on 8th May by 0.7°C. The solar UV index of 5.3 surpassed the yearly high of 5.1 set on 10th May by 0.2.
16th May - The high temperature of 20.9°C surpassed the yearly high of 20.1°C set yesterday by 0.8°C. Thes high dew point of 14.6°C surpassed the yearly high of 13.6°C set yesterday by 1°C.
17th May - The high temperature of 21.2°C surpassed the yearly high of 20.9°C set yesterday by 0.3°C.
18th May - The high temperature of 22.3°C surpassed the yearly high of 21.2°C set yesterday by 1.1°C.
19th May - The high temperature of 22.7°C surpassed the yearly high of 22.3°C set yesterday by 0.4°C. The high dew point of 15.1°C surpassed the yearly high of 14.6°C set yesterday by 0.5°C.
31st May - The fifth successive day of no sunshine. The first time this has occured here.
18th June - The high temperature of 23.0°C, recorded at 17:36, surpassed the yearly high of 22.7°C set on 19th May by 0.3°C.
22nd June - The high temperature of 23.2°C, recorded at 16:10, surpassed the yearly high of 23.0°C set on 18th June by 0.2°C.
23rd June - The high temperature of 23.6°C, recorded at 16:02, surpassed the yearly high of 23.2°C set on 22nd June by 0.4°C.
12th July - The high temperature of 24.7°C, recorded at 13:17, surpassed the yearly high of 23.6°C set on 23rd June by 1.1°C.
17th July - The temperature reached 25.9°C at 16:46 making it the highest temperature since August 1st 2013 when a station record 29.9°C was recorded.
18th July - The maximum temperature was 25.9°C recorded at 17:09. This equalled the yearly high temperature set on the 17th.
19th July - Several torrential thunderstorms resulted in an estimated 21.6 mm of rain falling, making it the wettesr day since July 23rd 2013 when 32.4 mm was recorded. The figure is an estimate due to a fault with the rain gauge during the day. The figure is estimated from readings taken from nearby weather stations.
24th July - The maximum temperature of 25.9°C recorded at 14:40 equals the highest temperature of the year set on July 17th and 18th.
25th July - For the fourth time this year, the temperature peaked at 25.9°C, equalling the yearly high.
26th July - The high temperature of 27.6°C, recorded at 15:48, surpassed the yearly high of 25.9°C, recorded on four occasions, by 1.7°C.
30th July - 15th successive day that the maximum temperature has exceeded 20°C - the first time this has been recorded here.
10th August - The maximum temperature was 17.6°C, ending a run of 25 successive days of above 20°C maximums.
20th August - The temperature at 05:42 fell to 5.3°C making it the coldest since May 3rd when the temperature fell to 0.6°C. This was the second lowest August temperature recorded here, beaten only by the 4.1°C recorded on August 31st 2012.
5th September - After 26 days of below 20°C maximum temperatures, the thermometer reached 20.3°C at 14:28.
5th October - At 05:45, the temperature fell to 3.6°C, making it the lowest temperature since May 3rd when the thermometer fell to 0.6°C.
6th October - The maximum temperature was 10.9°C, the lowest daily maximum since April 25th. The rainfall amount was 10.4 millimetres, the wettest day since July 19th, and the third wettest day of 2014.
12th October - At 07:44, the temperature dropped to 2.8°C. This is the lowest temperature since May 3rd when the thermometer fell to 0.6°C. This was also the first ground frost of the 2014/15 season, and the earliest a ground frost has been recorded here. The previous earliest ground frost was October 14th 2012.
18th October - Equal the least cold October day recorded at Bracken House. The minimum temperature was 14.7°C, equalling the record set on October 3rd 2011.
21st October - The maximum wind gust was 40.3 mph recorded at 15:41. This was the windiest since February 15th, and only the fourth windiest day of the year.
3rd November - The maximum temperature was 10.5°C, the lowest daily maximum since April 25th.
5th November - The maximum temperature was 9.7 C, the lowest daily maximum since April 25th.
6th November - At 01:17 the temperature fell to 0.7°C, making it the coldest temperature since May 3rd.
24th November - At 05:40, the temperature dropped to 0.4°C, making it the lowest temperature here since March 24th when the temperature dropped to -1.8°C.
25th November - At 07:04, the temperature dropped to -1.2°C, the first sub-zero temperature of the Autumn. The maximum temperature was 5.5°C recorded at 13:58. This was the lowest daytime maximum since January 30th, when the high was only 3.9°C.
5th December - A short spell of light drizzle (0.2 millimetres) ended a run of five successive dry days, equalling the longest dry spell recorded here in December. Strangely, this dry spell occurred at exactly the same time last year (November 30th until December 4th).
6th December - The low temperature of -2.4°C at 07:00 is a record low for 2014. This was the lowest temperature since March 31st 2013 when the temperature dropped to -2.9°C.
11th December - The low wind chill of -3.7°C at 08:18 surpassed the yearly low of -3.5°C set on 12th January. The first snowfall of the autumn / winter season was recorded at 08:15. The snow settled in places on the grass but soon turned to rain.
18th December - The maximum temperature of 13.0°C, recorded at 13:49, is the highest December temperature recorded here, beating the previous best, set on December 26th 2011, by 0.1°C. The minimum temperature was 10.3°C, recorded at 00:00, the highest December daily minimum ever recorded here. The average temperature for the day was 11.8°C.
26th December - The maximum pressure recorded was 1030.0 millibars at 00:08. This fell to 1004.7 millibars at 22:15 – a drop of 26.3 millibars in a little over 22 hours. The wind chill of -5.2°C was the lowest recorded this year. Six centimetres of snow fell, the most since 23rd March 2013.
27th December - The snow depth was 9.0 centimetres, the deepest since March 25th 2013.
28th December - The high barometer of 1037.1 millibars, recorded at 22:34, surpassed the yearly high of 1036.4 millibars set on 11th March by 0.7 millibars. The low temperature of -2.7°C, recorded at 23:08, was the lowest since March 31st 2013 when the temperature fell to -2.9°C.
29th December - The high barometer of 1041.1 millibars, recorded at 20:48, surpassed the yearly high of 1037.1 millibars set yesterday by 4.0 millibars. The low temperature of -2.8°C, recorded at 05:58, was the lowest temperature this year.
30th December - At 05:13, the temperature dropped to -3.1°C, the coldest since -3.7°C was recorded on March 14th 2013.
