January 4th - At 16:08, a wind gust of 41 mph was recorded. This was the strongest gust since 50 mph was recorded on February 23rd 2017.
January 16th - The high solar energy reading of 388 w/m² at 11:44 was the highest since 390 w/m² was recorded on November 26th 2017 and the highest of 2018 so far.
January 18th - The high solar energy reading of 454 w/m² at 11:55 was the highest since 512 w/m² was recorded on November 5th 2017. At 04:39, a wind gust of 43 mph was recorded, the highest of 2018 so far.
January 20th - The maximum temperature of 2.0°C, recorded at 15:00, was the lowest daily maximum temperature since December 9th 2017 when the maximum temperature only reached 1.7°C.
January 23rd - The maximum temperature of 12.2°C, recorded at 14:08, was the highest temperature of 2018 and the highest since November 23rd 2017 when the maximum temperature reached 13.0°C.
January 24th - Between 08:00 and 08:50, the temperature fell from 12.3°C to 8.0°C, a fall of 4.3°C in 50 minutes. At 08:00, the temperature was 12.3°C, the highest temperature of 2018 so far. By 11:05, the temperature had fallen to 6.7°C. This was caused by a cold front passing over the area. This front brought a spell of torrential rain and high winds. July 5th - At 15:11, the temperature reached 28.1°C, the highest temperature of the year and the highest since 29.5°C was recorded on June 19th 2017. This was also the 12th successive day with temperatures over 20°C and the 21st consecutive day without rainfall.
July 7th - This was the 23rd consecutive day without rainfall, equalling the record set between September 9th 2009 and October 1st 2009.
July 8th - The maximum temperature of 28.11°C, set at 15:36, was the highest of 2018, marginally better than the previous best of 28.06°C set on July 5th.
July 13th - After 28 dry days, the Selston Weather Station recorded its first measurable rain at 11:00.
July 23rd - At 16:10, the temperature reached 30.4°C, only the third time that a temperature in excess of 30°C has been recorded here. This was the second highest temperature ever here, beaten only by the 32.7°C recorded on July 1st 2015. This was the 30th consecutive day that the temperature has exceeded 20°C, easily beating the previous best run of 25 days between July 16th and August 9th 2014.
July 26th - At 17:35, the temperature reached 31.0°C, only the fourth time that a temperature in excess of 30°C has been recorded here. This was the second highest temperature ever here, beaten only by the 32.7°C recorded on July 1st 2015.
July 29th - The maximum temperature was only 19.5°C, recorded at 19:27. This ended a run of 35 consecutive days of above 20°C maximum temperatures, easily a record for here.
August 3rd - At 12:29, the U.V. Index registered 7.0, the second highest of the year, beaten only by the 7.1 recorded on June 20th.
August 23rd - 16.6 millimetres of rainfall was recorded, making it the second wettest day of 2018, beaten only by the 21.0 millimetres recorded on April 2nd.
September 19th - At 14:48, a wind gust of 39 mph was the highest wind gust since January 18th 2018 and the third highest of the year. This was also the second highest wind gust recorded in September, beaten only by the 39.1 mph recorded on September 12th 2011.
September 20th - 19.4 millimetres of rain was recorded, making it the second wettest day of 2018. Only April 2nd was wetter when 21.0 millimetres was recorded.
September 22nd - The maximum temperature, recorded at 14:02, was only 11.9°C making it the coldest day since May 2nd, when the maximum temperature was only 11.4°C. It was the coldest September day since 17th September 2013 when the temperature only reached 9.9°C.
September 24th - At 07:09, the temperature fell to 3.2°C, equalling the lowest ever September temperature here recorded on September 22nd 2012.
September 25th - At 00:42, the barometric pressure reached 1038.2 which is the highest pressure since 1043.2 was recorded on December 28th 2016.
October 12th - At 15:20, a wind gust of 42 mph was recorded, the second highest wind gust of 2018, beaten only by the 43 mph gust recorded on January 18th.
October 13th - The maximum temperature, recorded at 14:37 was 22.7°C. This was the highest October temperature since 25.6°C was recorded on October 3rd 2011, and the fourth highest October temperature here.
October 22nd - At 12:08, the barometric pressure reached 1037.4 millibars, the highest ever recorded here in October, beating the previous high of 1034.9 set in 2009.
October 29th - The minimum temperature, recorded at 07:08 was -0.7°C. This was the lowest October temperature ever recorded here, beating the previous lowest of -0.4°C set on October 25th 2010.
November 3rd - The solar radiation at 12:15 was 570 w/m², the highest ever recorded in November.
